Welcome to Bunbukan Karate Academy

The Shepherd's Bush Karate Club has been around for several years Our Dojo is honored to be part of the Kyudokan(Higa family karate) from Okinawa, Japan. The Bunbukan Academy is the only dojo in the UK to be officially part of the Kyudokan(Higa family) Karate. Bunbukan Academy teaches two disciplines, Karate and Jiu Jitsu We practice Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate, this comprises basically of giving and being able to receive heavy blows. The body has to be conditioned for this mentally and physically by way of various training drills,kata (sequences of movements coupled with blocks and strikes), Makiwara training(striking a firm target)  The training involves alot of repetition in order to attain a higher level of skill. Lots of the emphasis is on developing a strong body and determined will. However at Bunbukan Karate you will learn more,we also incorporate grappling into our syllabus so their is an element of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). We train in a friendly, respectful atmosphere were any one from a complete novice to an advanced individual can benefit.
