Bunbukan
Academy teaches two disciplines, Karate (primary) and Jiu Jitsu
(secondary).
The body and mind are conditioned by training:
- Kihon (fundamental
basic drills)
- Kata (sequences of movements coupled
with blocks and strikes)
- Makiwara (striking a firm target)
- Kumite (Sparring)
and by attaining Zanshin (the state of
total awareness)
Training involves repetition in order to attain a higher
level of
skill.
'It is not
the same for somebody to have given one hundred punches than one
million'
The aim is to develop a strong body and a determined will. We also
incorporate
grappling into our syllabus providing an element of Mixed Martial Arts
(MMA).
We train in a friendly,
respectful atmosphere were any one from a
complete novice
to advanced individual can benefit.
It is believed that the best way to prevent violent conflict is in
emphasizing the cultivation of individual character.
The Do(way) of Karate is to prevent or avoid violence as far
as possible.
There is no end for mastering karate. If we seek the Truth, the path
toward the Truth will become distant.
"Kyudo Mugen." (= Studying karate and searching for the Truth is
infinite.)
